Stihl GB has officially opened its new 11,500m2 facility in Surrey after “outgrowing” its former site.
The purpose-built head office and 9,000m2 distribution centre has been in the works since 2015.
Dr Nikolas Stihl, chairman of the supervisory board of the Stihl Group, said its completion “marks another milestone in Stihl’s almost 100-year history” at the opening ceremony.
It features dealer training facilities and a studio, collaborative workspaces, an on-site restaurant and a technical workshop to support Stihl GB’s 700-strong approved dealer network.
The state-of-the-art distribution centre features a robotic picking and storage system which Stihl GB says will streamline its operations.
Achieving BREEAM Certification, it has photovoltaic solar panels covering two-thirds of its roof area and more than 20 electric vehicle charging points.
Stihl GB’s managing director, Kay Green, says it “symbolises a significant step forward in our commitment to product innovation and providing exceptional service to our customers and dealer network.”
The site has been named Contra House, after the Contra chainsaw created by Stihl founder Andreas Stihl. More than 100 staff moved in the facility last November.
