A new design concept has been revealed for utilising robots and artificial intelligence to maintain urban environments in the next decade.
Husqvarna unveiled its plans for Strix, a smart robotic shuttle carrying an autonomous workforce for green space management, at its recent Living City conference in Paris.
The robots, that will use artificial intelligence to determine necessary action and capture data such as soil health, will provide actionable insights for cities.
A digital twin of a city would be created based on numerous data points and the robots would undertake a series of tasks, handling complex environments, before going back to the shuttle to recharge.
Stefan Axelsson, senior director product manager at Husqvarna, has been working with robotic mowers for the last 20 years. He said the technology already exists, even though it looks “futuristic” – “change is happening really fast now,” he added.
Husqvarna also revealed its new off-grid solar charger at the event. The charger boasts 24-hour continuous operation and flexible installation options, integrating with Husqvarna’s existing Automower robots.
Mattias Mattson, pro robotics product manager at Husqvarna, said it represents “a major leap forward in the world of robotic mower technology.”
