Ula Maria’s first show garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show has won Best in Show.

This year’s The Muscular Dystrophy UK – Forest Bathing Garden, built by Crocus in what is the contractor’s final year at Chelsea, has also received a Gold medal. The garden showcases the benefits of the ancient Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku, or forest bathing.

The debut designer has previously won a Gold medal at Tatton Park in 2017, when she was announced as RHS Young Designer of the Year. Maria also picked up a Silver-Gilt medal and Best in Category at Hampton Court the following year. She says winning Best in Show at Chelsea is an “incredible” and “amazing” achievement.

Yoreland Design Ltd has won this year’s Best Construction Award in the Show Garden category for the Terrence Higgins Trust Bridge to 2030 Garden, designed by Matthew Childs. In the Sanctuary Garden category, Gadd Brothers Trees and Landscapes took the Best Construction Award for Catherine MacDonald’s The Boodles National Gallery Garden.

Chelsea’s Best Sanctuary Garden has been awarded to the Burma Skincare Initiative Spirit of Partnership Garden, designed by Helen Olney and built by Conquest Creative Spaces. Designer Dan Bristow won Best All About Plants Garden for The Size of Wales, built by Mark Wallinger, and the Best Balcony & Container Garden went to The Ecotherapy Garden, designed by Tom Bannister and constructed by Wright Landscapes.
