Guerrilla gardening inspired flower display in Wrexham, Wales, adorns a mix of red and yellow species, paying homage to the latest Marvel Blockbuster to hit cinemas.
The Deadpool & Wolverine inspired installation resides atop a roundabout in the town of Wrexham, home to Wrexham football club, which is co-owned by Hollywood actor and face of Deadpool, Ryan Reynolds.
The displays, two 2.4m-wide heart shaped planters, are filled with an array of yellow and red pansies, petunias, geraniums and more.
Garden designer, Lucy Wilcox (pictured above), winner of Planting Design under £25,000 at this year’s Pro Landscaper Project Awards, in association with Nth Degree, took to Instagram to comment on the project she was helping raise awareness for:
“Deadpool, the original masked vigilante, also takes matters into his own hands, much like Guerrilla Gardeners who have their community’s interests at heart. Greening up grey and unloved areas.”
The term guerrilla gardening refers to the act of gardening on land that the gardeners do not have legal rights to cultivate. It arguably goes hand-in-hand with community gardening.
The Marvel inspired installation is also a part of this year’s RHS Britain in Bloom, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year.
