Former Young Designer finalist, Ollie Pike, secures the win for Best Show Garden at this year’s RHS Flower Show Tatton Park.
Pike’s design – which also won a Gold Medal – ‘This Garden Isn’t Finished Without You’ sponsored by The Methodist Church and built by Landstruction, encompasses an inclusive, communal space, open to all.
With a planting scheme that features achillea, salvia and erigeron, which are not native to the UK, but are naturalised here.
Its recycled colourful stone paving, a subtle nod to the colours of the pride flag, while the garden as a whole is designed to be accessible for those with physical disabilities, on top of a calm area for neurodivergent visitors.
Pike recently caught up with Pro Landscaper, where he expressed his passion for “creating spaces that everyone can have access to.”
Other Best In awards from the day include previous Pro Landscaper: 30 Under 30 winner, Ashleigh Aylett, who’s design, ‘The Woodland Trust: 49% Garden’, built by Evergreen Cheshire Ltd, secured her a hat-trick of awards; Best Construction for a Young Designer, RHS Young Designer of the Year, and a Gold medal.
Pip Probert and Rory Tompsett’s design, ‘My Name’5 Doddie Garden’ built by Actual Landscapes, took home the win Best Construction for a Show Garden, and earned the duo a Silver Gilt medal.
A new award introduced at this year’s RHS Tatton Park, RHS Career Changer of the Year, was won by Chris Reynolds for his design, ‘The Safe Space Garden’.
The police officer turned garden designer was also awarded a Gold medal for his garden.
While Best Terrace Garden went to Christine Leung for her garden, ‘Glen’, on top of a Gold medal.
This year, the show celebrates its 25th anniversary as it prepares to next return to the site in 2027, following a short relocation, announced earlier this year.
