Pro Landscaper’s 30 Under 30: The Next Generation, in association with Green-tech, has been running since 2015, recognising 270 winners so far, helping to propel them into the landscaping limelight, with most of the winners going on to bigger and better things since collecting the prestigious award.
Now, the search is on for the 10th class to find the most impressive young people in landscaping and shine a spotlight on the future of the industry.
Winners of Pro Landscaper: 30 Under 30 The Next Generation 2023 share their top five reasons to enter this year:
1. Career progression
Looking for the next step up in your career? Then what better way to do this than with one of the industry’s most prestigious awards to support your development. “Winning the 30 Under 30 award is a huge steppingstone to continue mine and my team’s progression in the industry,” says Tim Young, regional manager for Countrywide Cheshire, whilst Ryan Clark – landscaper supervisor at Oak View Landscapes – calls it a “huge privilege” and is looking forward “to the doors it will open”.

The 30 Under 30 initiative offers an opportunity for your commitment to the industry or to a particular sector to stand out and be noticed.
3. Receive recognition
If you’ve got something to brag about, then why shouldn’t you shout about it?
“To be recognised by the industry’s leading publication alongside a great selection of other young garden designers and landscapers was truly delightful,” says Max Denton, director of Wild by Design Ltd.
“This award is validation of the hard work and progress,” adds Annabell Hodd, owner, and senior designer at Ivy & Whyte Garden Design Sussex. “Being a young professional in this field demonstrates that age is not a barrier to making an impact and it inspires me to keep pushing boundaries, learning, and exploring!”
4. Encourage others
Sometimes all you need is a little encouragement, and with the industry’s skills shortage, seeing other people succeed can be the encouragement you need to take a leap of faith and try something new. The 30 Under 30 award aims to inspire the next generation and prove that this is an industry open to all.
“Hopefully the 30 Under 30 award continues to encourage more young people to pursue a career in horticulture and be part of such a thriving industry which is only getting stronger,” says Danny Green, account manager at Crowders Nurseries.
“It has shown me that I can celebrate my achievements whilst still learning and progressing within the industry,” says Penny Walker, junior landscape architect at Ann-Marie Powell Gardens.
“I hope that awards like this can go a long way to raise the profile of our industry, encouraging a new generation of professionals to choose the environmental sector as an exciting and rewarding career path in which they can make a positive impact on the world around us,” says Helen Stickling, arboricultural support office for the London Borough of Bromley.
