Omega Oak Barn care home in North Yorkshire welcomes the addition of a new BioScapes WildPod planter at its Beadlam site, helping residents connect with nature.
The wildlife planter, purchased by the Allison Willis Trust and donated to the care home, was installed free-of-charge by BioScapes.
Biodiversity solutions provider, BioScapes says the collaboration came to fruition off the back of a shared recognition of the ‘significant benefits’ and ‘positive social connections’ available through nature; a connection BioScapes says is ‘crucial for care home residents’.
Chris Buntin, manager at the family-run care home expresses his enthusiasm for the new addition:
“We were excited by the BioScapes WildPod, which creates a home for all kinds of wildlife and offers numerous opportunities for our residents to encounter different plants and animals. We are very grateful to the Allison Willis Trust and BioScapes for their contributions.”
The Allison Willis Trust is committed to enhancing connections with the natural environment, Jonathan Allison trustee, explains why the BioScapes Wildpod planter was chosen for this particular site:
“[It] fits perfectly into the care home’s small, enclosed garden and appeals to all the senses. Its visually intriguing shape can be reshaped by the way it is planted and developed. The flowers and insects provide scents and sounds, with contributions from birds attracted to the garden.”
