Ahead of Wildflower Week 2024, which runs from 1 to 8 May, George Davies Turf has set out to deliver 20 rolls of wildflower turf to six schools across Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
The donated turf aims to enhance picnic, play, and forest school areas whilst also increasing biodiversity by restoring native ecosystems and providing an essential habitat for butterflies, bees and other pollinators.
George Davies says: “We are passionate about supporting the community and having a positive impact on people’s lives, so decided to bring these values together for this year’s Wildflower Week.
“We’re delighted to have been able to support so many local schools and we look forward to catching up with them over the coming months to see how their wildflowers are looking and what new wildlife they have visiting now as a result.”
Jo Bevis, headteacher at Carlton C of E Primary School says: “We were over the moon to receive the Wildflower Turf from George Davies Turf as we are lucky to have a lot of outdoor space.
“Our pupils are really looking forward to getting stuck in and will be helping to prepare the area where it will go. We hope to see lots of new wildlife visit us over the coming months.”
